Engage Your Facebook Fans

written by Stacy Jones, Event Marketing Specialist

We all know that social media is a wonderful marketing tool for your company and products. Facebook has over 728 million daily users alone, but how do you fully engage your audience with your brand?

Here are ways to engage your fans.

  1. Post Pictures

Over all pictures gain 39% more interaction from Facebook users. They account for 93% of the most engaging posts. According to Kissmetrics, “photos get 53% more likes, 104% more comments and 84% more click-throughs than text-based posts.” The moral of the story here is post more pictures. People are visual; in fact photo albums have a 180% interaction rate. The next time you have a beautiful booth, snap and share that picture to get more people talking about your brand!

  1. Get to the Point

If your message gets to the point quickly and more concisely it will receive 23% more interaction. If you can keep your posts below 250 characters, unlike twitter the spaces are not included. Don’t have a lot to say, posting a status in less than 80 characters will generate 6% more engagement than 250 character posts. See the chart from Track Social.

  1. Post on Thursday or Friday

Buddymedia’s conducted a study that found, Thursdays and Fridays offer higher interaction rates with Facebook users. Why, because people are ready to start their weekend.

  1. Ask Questions

Questions get 100% more comments than statements, but fewer likes and shares. Posts that include “should” “would” and “who” get more comments than “why” and “how” questions.

  1. Host Contest, Sweepstakes or Give-a-ways

Facebook users like contests- in fact 35% of users only like a fan page to participate in contests. The most engaging words are- winner, enter, contest, promotion, entry and win. In fact, Socially Stacked stated that “42% of Facebook fans like a page just in order to get discount or coupon.” Coupon-based campaigns received the highest engagement rates, followed by giveaways and sweepstakes.
